Bridget O'Brien Hannahan is an Alabama licensed clinical psychologist specializing in child assessment, adolescent issues, and family therapy. She earned both her M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, with a subspecialty in Clinical Child Psychology, from the University of Alabama. Before beginning full-time private practice, Dr. Hannahan worked for 21 years as a consultant to the Department of Pediatrics and Division of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics at the University of South Alabama. During that time, she focused on developmental and intellectual assessment of infants, toddlers and preschoolers. Working for 8 years in USA's Autism Diagnostic Clinic and for one year as a Consulting Psychologist with Glenwood, Inc., Dr. Hannahan acquired additional experience in Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
Since 2010, Dr. Hannahan has maintained a private practice in Mobile, Alabama, now known as Narrow Road Counseling, P.C. She has been "pleasantly surprised by the number of adults who have engaged my services as a therapist." With a special interest in children, adolescents, and young adults, Dr. Hannahan enjoys working with the young and the young at heart. Specific areas of expertise are Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
In dealing with a variety of issues and stages of life, Dr. Hannahan uses a mixture of approaches and techniques. Her preferred therapeutic approaches include interpersonal process and TEAM-CBT. TEAM is an acronym for Testing, Empathy, Agenda-Setting & Methods in the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach popularized by Dr. David Burns.
Dr. Hannahan "listens with a third ear," attending closely to a client's emotional tone and other qualities often overlooked in daily life. Her goal is to "listen hard and speak softly." With compassion and understanding, she works to help her clients identify and build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they seek.
